Dr. Kathryn Haas
Dr. Kathryn Haas
Licensed occupational therapist with more than 25 years of experience across school, clinical, hospital, and community settings. Practicing since 1999, she brings extensive expertise in lifespan care, multidisciplinary assessment, and complex disability profiles. Dr. Haas carries forward a multigenerational legacy in occupational therapy, following in the footsteps of her mother, who served the profession for more than five decades. This foundation informs her commitment to ethical practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and lifelong advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
Dr. Haas provides forensic consultation and expert testimony in matters related to IDEA and Section 504 compliance and conducts Independent Educational Evaluations throughout California. Her comprehensive evaluations align with federal special education regulations and support legally sound, student-centered decision making.
Dr. Haas practices through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families in understanding sensory and regulatory differences as meaningful aspects of human interaction rather than deficits to be masked. Her work emphasizes collaborative problem solving, family education, and functional participation across home, school, and community environments. Known for her evidence-based and functional approach, she serves neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals across early intervention, K–12 systems, rehabilitation, and community-based programs. Her doctoral research reframed autistic stimming as a valid form of social communication, shaping her commitment to acceptance-based practices and collaborative care models that include families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams.
Dr. Haas holds a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. Her work reflects a deep commitment to dignity, participation, and meaningful functional outcomes for every individual she serves.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Haas enjoys outrigger canoe paddling along the Southern California coast and spending time with her three dogs, whose companionship keeps her grounded in the everyday rhythms of regulation, movement, and play.
